Summary

A lonely pegasus looks for the perfect friend in this sweet and adorable picture book companion to the bestselling Not Quite Narwhal

Nimbus has always lived among the clouds。 She’s a pegasus, after all, and the sky is where she belongs。 She is one of a kind。 And when she wants a friend, all she has to do is look up—and talk to the stars。

Only。。。they don’t really talk back。 The clouds don’t, either。 And sometimes, being the only pegasus can be a little。。。lonely? So she decides to find a fallen star to make a wish on—and wishes for friends who are just like her。 Along the way she meets a Unicorn named Kelp, and a host of other creatures。。。who might just open her eyes to something other than what’s up in the sky。

An adorable read fro the author of "Not Quite Narwhal!" It shows kids that sometimes what we wish for comes to us in unexpected ways。 The illustrations are just as magical as previous books, and Nimbus is a relatable character to all of us。 Appropriate for read-alouds for multiple age groups - I read it to a Storytime group ranging from a few months old to 8 years old, and everyone was engaged with the story。 An adorable read fro the author of "Not Quite Narwhal!" This is a fairly simple story -- similar in style and brevity to Not Quite Narwhal, to which it is a companion (it takes place after the events of Not Quite Narwhal, but since it centers a new character, it's not really a sequel)。I feel like it doesn't work quite as well as Not Quite Narwhal, but it's sweet。 (view spoiler)[In Not Quite Narwhal, Kelp struggles about staying with the unicorns because he misses his narwhal friends under the sea。 But Nimbus doesn't have any reason for not consid This is a fairly simple story -- similar in style and brevity to Not Quite Narwhal, to which it is a companion (it takes place after the events of Not Quite Narwhal, but since it centers a new character, it's not really a sequel)。I feel like it doesn't work quite as well as Not Quite Narwhal, but it's sweet。 (view spoiler)[In Not Quite Narwhal, Kelp struggles about staying with the unicorns because he misses his narwhal friends under the sea。 But Nimbus doesn't have any reason for not considering "Kelp and his pointy friends" the companionship she had been wishing for (my partner noted that the unicorns and narwhals can't fly, but no one ever articulates that in the text)。 (hide spoiler)](Also, omfg, I read my partner Not Quite Narwhal and then read them this, and we looked at the endpapers each time, and。。。) 。。。more

Sweet, but predictable, and nowhere near the heartwarming delight of Not Quite Narwhal。

I wouldn't normally add something like this to my Goodreads, but it was just so cute! Buy it for your kids or nieces and nephews。 I wouldn't normally add something like this to my Goodreads, but it was just so cute! Buy it for your kids or nieces and nephews。 。。。more

Cute, but not as cute as the original story Not Quite Narwhal。 About realizing you’ve found what you’re wishing for: friends。 Liked the hint on the back endpages of another story to come? Of course, be sure to check out all endpages and the case cover art。

What a wonderful story about searching and discovering you had what you needed all along。 I love stories like this。 Perfect for children and adults alike。 The Perfect play between words and the sweeping illustrations make this epic tale the addition your family needs on the bookshelf! We enjoy Not Quite Narwhal so much, I had to get this for my daughter。 The illustrations are beautiful and the message is particularly perfect for kids feeling lonely during the pandemic。 This is a great read for preschool age kids and older。

Perfectly Pegasus is a companion book to Sima's amazing Not Quite Narwhal (if you have not read that one, pick it up as it is one of the most delightful children's books)。 This time it focuses on a Pegasus who is perfectly content with her life except for the fact that she has no friends。 She decides to track down a fallen star in the hope that it will grant a wish for them and along the way she meets several individuals willing to help her…Yes, from the plot description you already know where t Perfectly Pegasus is a companion book to Sima's amazing Not Quite Narwhal (if you have not read that one, pick it up as it is one of the most delightful children's books)。 This time it focuses on a Pegasus who is perfectly content with her life except for the fact that she has no friends。 She decides to track down a fallen star in the hope that it will grant a wish for them and along the way she meets several individuals willing to help her…Yes, from the plot description you already know where this one is going。 It's a wonderful little book though, with lovely illustrations and some fun moments。 A definite win for my daughter, although I think we both prefer the Narwhal book。 4/5 stars。 。。。more

An easy, enrapturing addition to what is becoming a stylistic favorite of mine in picture books。 This pairs wonderfully with books such as Antwan Eady's Nigel and the Moon and Cori Doerrfeld's The Rabbit Listened--just comforting reads that fill every corner of your heart with warmth。 An easy, enrapturing addition to what is becoming a stylistic favorite of mine in picture books。 This pairs wonderfully with books such as Antwan Eady's Nigel and the Moon and Cori Doerrfeld's The Rabbit Listened--just comforting reads that fill every corner of your heart with warmth。 。。。more

i’d like to think of it as the sequel to “not quite narwhal” and it’s another story that proves you can find community in anyone and everybody。 while it’s okay to be alone, sometimes being around people that make you feel good is nice。

While it didn't strike me quite as deeply as Narwhal, I thoroughly enjoyed the story。 Just as adorable as it's predecessor。 While it didn't strike me quite as deeply as Narwhal, I thoroughly enjoyed the story。 Just as adorable as it's predecessor。 。。。more

Perfectly Pegasus is the perfect follow up to Not Quite Narwhal! The story is sweet。 Nimbus wants to find a fallen star to make a wish for a friend and along the way meets all sorts of wonderful characters willing to help out。 Could one of them be a friend?I love Jessie Sima's art! They do such an AMAZING job with the artistic craft of visual storytelling。 The illustrations are warm and bright, but filled with emotional depth。 I am also in LOVE with the rhino on the end papers。 What a great nod Perfectly Pegasus is the perfect follow up to Not Quite Narwhal! The plot also builds on themes from Not Quite Narwhal, but completely works as a stand alone。 One of the things I love about this plot is how easy it is for kids to see the solution to Nimbus's problem, but how hard it is for Nimbus to figure it out。 I love picture books that have many levels。 On the surface this is a fun, magical, friendship story, but it is so much more! I think it is a great example for all readers of how hard it is to find a solution when you are overwhelmed by a problem。 Sometimes the answer is easy when you take a step back and can see the big picture。All around fabulous read。 Five stars! 。。。more

This wasn't my favorite of Sima's books (Harriet Gets Carried Away will probably always be my favorite)。 This concept has just been done so many times。 This wasn't my favorite of Sima's books (Harriet Gets Carried Away will probably always be my favorite)。 This concept has just been done so many times。 。。。more

I know this is a children’s novel。 But it was still important to read, especially now as I’m going through a bit of a rough time。 It shows children, and even adults, how friends are important to us in our lives。 Even though the little Pegasus thought her wish hadn’t came true, in truth it had。 Even if her friends were different from her as all of them had horns, Unlike her who had wings。 It just shows that no matter if you are different, people and friends will love you for who you are。

Nimbus loves being a pegasus but gets lonely。 She tries to make a wish on a falling star but doesn't get it completed。 She sets off to find the star and finish her wish。 When she lands, she meets Kelp。 Together, they search for the star, and Kelp introduces her to his friends - both unicorns and narwhals。 Though they never find the star (don't miss the end pages), Nimbus realizes her wish was granted and she heads back to have fun with her new friends。Lovely and colorful illustrations。Sweet stor Nimbus loves being a pegasus but gets lonely。 She tries to make a wish on a falling star but doesn't get it completed。 She sets off to find the star and finish her wish。 When she lands, she meets Kelp。 Together, they search for the star, and Kelp introduces her to his friends - both unicorns and narwhals。 Though they never find the star (don't miss the end pages), Nimbus realizes her wish was granted and she heads back to have fun with her new friends。Lovely and colorful illustrations。Sweet story。 。。。more

✧ 105/ 108This is so cute!! If the next book is about a rhino i will die of cuteness。If you're a teacher looking for a children's book with a good message about friendship/ differences I think that can be found elsewhere too。 It's a cute and short story, but I feel like it might be too short to get the message across? Looking at it from a normal standpoint though, I LOVE THISP。S。 I received this arc through work by being a bookseller, but thank you anyways to SimonKids! ✧ 105/ 108This is so cute!!
